    To work in New Zealand,all health care professionals must meet the requirements for qualifications set by the concerned Board of Australia and register with them. (Nursing Council of New Zealand for nurses , and Medical Council of New Zealand for Doctors)

    All applicants for registration (excludes student registration) must meet the requirements of the following mandatory registration standards:

    • Acceptable primary medical qualification /Nursing Qualification
    • Proof of Identity
    • Current registration
    • Post registration experience
    • Fitness to practise
    • Competence to practice
    • Primary source verification of qualifications (EPIC)
    • English language requirements (OET/IELTS/PTE/TOEFL )
    • Nurses :
      The English language assessment results must be less than three years old at the time you submit your application for registration. Note: There is no overall minimum score requirement. You can achieve the minimum score in the English language assessments over more than one sitting, however the required score must be met within 12 months of first sitting the test.
      OET
      For results prior to August 2018
      You must achieve a minimum score of B for each band: reading, writing, listening and speaking. They do not accept a C+ pass.
      For results after September 2018
      You must achieve a minimum score of 350 for each band: reading, writing, listening and speaking. They do not accept a C+ (300 – 340) pass.
      IELTS
      You must achieve a minimum score of 7 for each band of the academic test: reading, writing,listening and speaking. If you sat the Occupational English Test (OET), you can re-sit the band you failed (e.g. listening). If you sat the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic, you need to re-sit every band (reading, writing, speaking, listening).

      Pass the Medical Module of the by achieving a minimum of ‘A’ or ‘B’ in each of the four components (reading, writing, listening and speaking) within one result. From 9 September 2018

      Pass the Medical Module of the OET by achieving a minimum score of 350 in each of the four components (reading, writing, listening and speaking) within one result.
