    To work in Ireland,all health care professionals must  meet the requirements for qualifications set by the concerned Board and   register with them. (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) for nurses , and  Medical Council for Doctors)

    If you trained outside the EU or the EEA you are a Group 3 applicant. To be eligible to apply for registration to the Register, you must

    Acceptable Nursing Qualification

    Proof of Identity

    Current registration

    Post registration experience

    If you completed your nurse/midwifery Registration education programme more than five years prior to the date of application, you must have practiced for at least 12 months during that five years

    Competence to practice

    English language requirements (OET/IELTS/PTE/TOEFL )

    Doctors

    General The Medical Council has made its Pre-Registration Examination System (PRES) easier for applicants from outside of Europe to apply for registration.

    For general registration,you should pass any of the following

    • Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) Part 1
    • United States Medical Licencing Exam (USMLE) Step 1 and 2
    • Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCQE Part 1) or MCCEE
    • Australian Medical Council MCQ (AMC)

    Followed by Pre-Registration Examination System clinical based examination (PRES Level 3)

    Specialist Registration

    Evaluation of Existing Training and Experience

    • Nurses :
      IELTS Academic- Not less than Band 7 in Writing and Speaking ,and Band 6.5 in Listening and Reading
      OET - Not less than B grade (350 marks) in Writing and Speaking ,and C+ grade (300 marks) in Listening and Reading
      The results should be less than 2 years old and the scores should be obtained in a single sitting
    • Doctors :
      Academic IELTS- Certificate (dated within the last two years) with an overall band score of 7.0 and a minimum score of 6.5 in each module is the score accepted.
      OET (Category – Medicine) dated within the last two years, with a minimum grade of B in each module.
      Higher Qualification listed in Appendix A of the Registration Rules which was awarded by a postgraduate training body in a country where English is the language spoken by the vast majority of the population
      Basic medical degree and internship training were completed through English in a country where English is the language spoken by the vast majority of the population
      Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - CEFR Level C1or C2
      USMLE if all of part 1 and part 2 have been completed.
